June 5. A clear frosty morning, 25 [[degree symbol]] at sunrise.
Went to my traps & got 2 Thomomys & an Arvicola riparius & A. pallidus & a Tamias.
[[left margin note in red]] Red Mt? [[/left margin]] Started up the [[underlined]] Mt. [[/underlined]] before 7 oclock, saw 3 deer lying down & 2 others. Wounded one but did not get it.
[[left margin note in red]] Utah [[/left margin]] [[underlined]] Reached the peak [[/underlined]] at 10 oclock, found 2 Lagomys in my traps, heard the Arctomys but could not find. killed 2 of the large Tamias on the rocks & saw more. heard a noise that were probably Lagomys but saw none
They are shy & keep in among the rocks 
Found the lake given on the map.
Coming home I saw 2 Elk. They were feeding in a pack & did not see me for a long time. got within 15 rods of them. The buck was large and had velvety horns a foot long.
Got back at 5 oclock. Skinned 5 things & then got supper.
A pleasant day & not very cold

June 6. A frosty morning 27 [[degree symbol]] at sunrise.
Took up traps, got another Arvicola pallidus & a Hesperomys & shot a Tamias lateralis, & some birds.
Packed up my things & started down the Mts. at 7.30. Hunted along & went slow. Caught some trout when I crossed [[underlined]] Willow Creek [[/underlined]] & had them for dinner.
Saw no big game except 5 Sage Grouse & 3 Jack Rabbits.
Got to the ranch at 6.30. A long slow ride but a pleasant trip.
