Oct. 30, Caught 3 Tamias pictus & a Dipodops & 4 Hesperomys l. sonoriensis.
Went to work at skinning as soon as possible, but it took till noon to get them all put. - 13 specimens.
Left camp at 1:30. Follow down the little stream that we camped on for 3 or 4 miles to where it dried up. Then over a hill & down across ridges to the river Struck Eeast Humboldt R. about 5 miles above Beowawe. Camped just at dark half a mile from Beowawe
The river valley is about the same as all along, big rye-grass along the middle & Sarcobatus vermiculatus, tetradimea & Sage brush along the sides ofthe valley. The valley is most of the way along here about a mile wide, quite level. There is not much fall to the river.
Dust is deep & soft along the valley road & tracks show plainly. Dipodops & large Rabbit tracks are numerous - The Rabbits have been scarce all along & no Dipodops back of Carlin.
Oure last camp (that I catalogued as 5 north of Palisade) was about halfway from Beowawe to Carlin on the direct road over the Mts.
A warm morning, hardly froze, pleasant day.
