traps near camp before dark.
A warm, clear, pleasant day, Chipmunks were out & lively, but I saw no larger game. A road runs up the cañon but is washed out so as to be impassable for a wagon or I would go up and camp in the cañon for a few days. Henry set Thomomys traps near camp, but did not catch any yet.

[[underline]] Nov. 19 [[/underline]], Caught a Dipodops & a little Perognathus & some Hesperomes & Tamias & an Arvicola & an Evotomys. Got the Evotomys & Arvicola close to camp on the creek bank. Caught another Evotomys later in the day. Henry caught a Thomomys.
Skinned 18 mammals, Set some more traps mostly for Evotomys along the creek. Henry set more traps & saw a little Rabbit that I think was L. nuttallii. Didnt go far from camp all day.
Went up to our next neighbors & asked questions. They call it 33 miles to Austin & 20 miles to Ione & say we had better go by Ione as the road up Indian Cr. is bad.
Warmer than usual, warm enough to sit in the tent & work by candle in evening.
