[[left page blank]] [[end page]] [[start page]] [[underlined]] Dec. 30 [[/underlined]] The wind howled most all night, the waves roared, & it rained some. Inspite of weather I got 4 Dipodomys deserti, 3 little sandy tailed Dipodomes, 2 Onychomys a Tamias leucurus, & 3 Ochetodons. Took up my traps, made up the skins, & packed a big box of specimens. Did not get time to reset my traps. Nelson made up skins & wrote his bird report. Windy all day, a sprinkle of rain & it snowed on the Mts. to low down. Colder in evening & still windy. [[underlined]] Dec. 31 [[/underlined]], Packed up & started for Darwin at 9:30, Came to the low cañon in about 3 miles, it is a wash through lava rock, the sand is deep & a very hard road. The sides of the canon are rough and rocky, but not high. When we leave the cañon we cross a hill and down to another wash that connects with Owen Valley. Followed up this wash through deep sand to Owen's station, where big Yuccas [[strikethrough]] grow [[/strikethrough]] begin. Then on to Arab Station and over the divide at 5500 feet. The lake valley slopes gradually back
