Mearns base camp was a 12,100 ft on Mt Kenya - see page 238 - https://books.google.com.au/books?isbn=0307464326 The locality description given - from Mount Kenya to the Kasorongai River (just east of Lake Victoria; see p. 269 here: https://goo.gl/Q9ZPU8) - spans a large part of western Kenya and multiple counties. (It's just a description of the ground covered during the entire expedition.) -@mnathan
