[[underlined]] July 18 [[/underlined]], Telegraphed my whereabouts.
Hunted & set traps. Went across the creek south of town & set traps above the rocky ledges and over the grassy hills of the prairie. Killed an Ammodramus s. perpallidus & an Antrostomus carolinensis. Shot a Coccyzus americanus for bait & found its gizzard full of green worms - saved them. Found signs of Neotoma & Arvicola & set traps. Tramped a long way back over the prairie without finding much. Climbed to the top of the highest hill near here & estimated it at 300 feet. above the creek.

[[underlined]] July 19 [[/underlined]] Caught a Poassum & some Neotomas and a Sitomys & shot an Antrostomys. Set more traps.

[[underlined]] July 20 [[/underlined]] B.H. Dutcher arrived. Caught 4 Possums, 5 Neotomas, 2 Sitomys, & shot a Gray Squirrel. Made up skins & reset bait of my traps.

[[underlined]] July 21 [[/underlined]] Caught but little. Packed some specimens. Shot one bat in evening. A hot day, 95[[degree symbol]] at 6 P.M. Will go west in morning.

[[underlined]] July 22 [[/underlined]] Left Cedar Valle and arrived at Belle Plaine about noon.
