sign board, the country became more level, just prairie all around as far as you can see, Left  Artemisia soon after crossing the Cimarron and some other plants. About the same to Kiowa. 
Geomys, abundant all the way & also Cynomys. Perodipus holes were common whereever there were sandy banks.
Saw Milvulus. Saw a Milvulus at the Cimmaron River, 6 at Salt Fork of Arkansas, & one at Kiowa. Reached Kiowa at 3 P.M.
Went out & set some traps. Caught a Geomys & shot 2 Spermophiles.

[[underlined]] Aug. 31 [[/underlined]] Caught another Geomys & an Onychomys & a Spermophile. Shot three Spermopiles & 2 Prairie Dogs. Took up my traps. Skinned things and packed some spicimens.

[[underlined]] Sep. 1 [[/underlined]] Finished packing spicimens & trunk and started for Wichita on the Mo. Pacific train at 1.10 P.M.
Crossed a river - Salt Fork I suppose - just after leaving Kiowa. Perodipus holes were common along its sandy flats. Geomys hills were abundant all along from Kiowa to Conway Sprs. but none
