The number of entries made in the register of the bird department during the year is 2971, the principal accessions are as follows:-

Cheeseman:- One [[underlined]] Apteryx oweni [[/underlined]], one [[underlined]] Puffinus carneipes [[/underlined]] and a pair of [[underlined]] Hymenolaimus malacorhynchos [[/underlined]], all from New Zealand, the latter species new to the museum collection (Exchange).
