The assistant curator was absent on leave [[strikethrough]]of absence[[/strikethrough]] during part of the month. During the remainder he was occupied with work caused by the moving of the office to the south west gallery and with the meeting of the American Ornithologists' Union, leaving but little time for scientific work.

Mr. J. S. Sessford performed satisfactorily the various duties assigned to him.

Mr. A. H. Jennings, of Baltimore, during the month continued to perform gratuitously the work of an assistant.
