To be conducted by Mr. Kennicott under the scientific direction of the SI, and under the patronage of Collins' Overland Tel. Co.

The S.I. to furnish all the facilities at its command in the way of transportation, agencies and the use of such apparatus as the S.I. may have on hand &c.

The Chi. Acad. Sci. to furnish one thousand dollars toward furnishing collecting supplies and such apparatus as has not been furnished by the S.I.

Mr. Kennicott to furnish or procure such additional funds as may be necessary to carry on his explorations.

The collections as made to be transmitted to Hubbard the agent of S.I. at San Francisco and transported from thence to Washington at expense of S.I.

After the proper elaboration and determination of the collections, the first-series, or such portions of it as may be [[strikethrough]] desired [[/strikethrough]] needed to complete its own collection, to be retained by S.I. The second series [[strikethrough]] to be deliver [[/strikethrough]] (or the fist series after such deductions,) to be [[strikethrough]] given [[/strikethrough]] delivered to Chi.
