some very nice, fresh deer meat and several bladders of tallow, besides filling the carbass with jerked meat for the men, who relished it all the more, for being spoiled.

We arrived at Oochastica at 7 o clock P.M. but all that was left of the settlement was a number of holes or cellars, over which their winter hovels were constructed.
