Acad. of poor Bridges , a true martyr for science, whom I heard described by our first working naturalist (an S.I. ^man^ by the way) out here, as occupying the relative position to a describing naturalist; of the porter in a warehouse, to the merchant conducting the business!!
  The steamer was prevented by the gale from going to Sitka and therefore the Ounga Island plan is all afloat. Petropavlowsk is the next most available place, or Ounalashka Isl'd.
