A fine set of Tchookchee skulls obtained by myself at some personal risk – a number of small mammals &c A skull (bad condn.) of a rocky mountain bighorn sheep, said to be found alive to the west of Anadyr. Full skeletons of the hair seal both male & female, and the only thing of value among the mollusks, some fair p^[[e]]lagic collections with notes & drawings. I found an old Dutchman was making a collection for sale, and upon representing the facts, I got the specimens but [[strikethrough]] no [[strikethrough]] Col. B refused any written order circular, or memorandum, of the same, ordering [[underline]]all colls.[[/underline]] to be turned over; which left me in a nasty fix. All Wrights & Fishers work. The Col. would've granted it to me at first – But I must close. Please send a copy or paraphrase of this to Mr. Walker of Chicago. I would have written to him but there is not time
