Prof. S. F. Baird Smithsonian Inst.
  Dear Sir,
I propose and pledge myself to continue the work commenced and projected by the late beloved Robert Kennicott, of making collections in Natural History in R. Am: for such time, health being spared to me, as you may judge proper and expedient. Upon the following conditions. That the original agreement in relation to the disposition of specimens and the reservation of certain of them for the Chicago Academy, be continued and carried out, as before intended and that the specimens before and here after to be collected shall be reserved intact as far as possible at the S. Ins. till the work be concluded. Respectfully yours
  W^m H. Dall.
