Dear Prof. Henry:

I write to inform you that the Party sent out from San Francisco last May for the exploration and determination of a route for the Western Union Telegraph Co., of which I was a member, failed to reach Ft. Youkon, and was compelled to return on account of failure of supplies. On its return to Ft. Alexandria, the party was disbanded, it being too late in the season for explorations in the far North.
