I have the honor to Submit the following report of transactions in the department under my charge during the year 1866.

During the early part of the Season I was employed in overhauing and refitting the medicine Chests belonging to the various vessels of the fleet and preparing suitable cases for  the field service. The work was faithfully and efficiently performed by Messrs. W. H. Keith & Co. under my supervision, each vessel was furnished with ample Supplies of medicines for at least eight months together with Explicit directions for use. For the field use of the Land, Service there were also prepared 20 Small portable medicine chests each containing a full assortment of the medicines most commonly in use together with a hand-book of directions.
These small chests were distributed as follows 5 to the American Division  ^[[3 to Anadyr district, 5 to Siberian division]] 3. to Grantly Harbor district. 1 left at Petropaulski, 1 at Fort St. Michaels, 1 at Orala Khleet, 1 at Kelsey Station In addition to which Extra medicines Sufficient
