great scarcity of dog food, both here and at Penshina, it would be well to make the narts on which you came from Shestakova, carry dog food enough to last them until your return, and have them wait there until that time. If you do not, some narts will ahve to go through from here to "Shistakova" and few, if any of them, have "jerkola" enough.
I cannot close without expressing my gratitude to Mr. Dodd, for his hearty co-operation in all my undertakings + the brave cheerful spirit which he has shown under the extraordinary hardships, and discouraging circumstances in which we have often been placed.
To his energy and perseverance is attributable what success we have met with our explorations, for my ignorance of the language, has prevented me from being of much use.
He wishes to be kindly remembered to you, as do also our friends from the lower Anadyr. Hoping that your journey has been successful and that we shall soon see you here in good health,
