He says he took up bird skinning just
for amusement about 6 months ago - He
states that he dont like to deal with
Kinider- I reckon Johnnie has been
driving some hard bargains with him - I believe tho' that Holland has not yet sold any birds. -

I rather wonder [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] that a man of
his style and pecuniary resources should have intended to sell specimens at all. -

I believe you'll find him worth careful cultivation - He will be, I think, susceptible to a moderate amount of praise & flattery. - Just a little vain and almost wholly
[[underlined]] ignorant of science [[/underlined]]. -

[[line]]

I found him in [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] Graytown an old German (has been here 14 years) - Dr F J Deizmann. He is just a little bit [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] [[underlined]] gaseous [[/underlined]] and unreliable but the old fellow is active and intelligent - and about the most [[underlined]] energetic [[/underlined]] man I've seen here. He has been very kind to our party and has helped me to get canoes,
natives [[insert]] to work [[/insert]] etc. He says he would like very much to make collections and I think no one would have a better chance than he has (except Holland) I shall put him
up to collecting everything except birds

I think [[underlined]] decidedly [[/underlined]] you'd better send
