5804/2 2 [[circular stamp]] Smithsonian Institution APR 15 1865 [[/circular stamp]] meteorological observation for the S.I. and is perhaps a regular correspondent John Rogers his brother (our Purser on the Golden Rule & a P.B.) tells me his brother Frank wants to go into Nat. Hist. - I propose to put him into Nat History. The Purser advised me to supply him with materials anyway. - I propose that you should send a [[underline]] third [[/underline]] alcohol tank [[strike]] have [[/strike]] set of egg drills, etc. bottles etc etc - directed to Frank Rogers San Juan del Sur Nicaragua - care Carrington in N.Y. - I shall see Rogers and if he is not the man to [[underlined]] do up [[/underlined]] the zoölogy at San Juan Del Sur and Lake Nicaragua Ill find some one that will and can arrange with Rogers to hand over the material to him - But from what they all tell me here I believe Rogers will "go in" heavily on zoölogy - He is a very well educated man, somewhat exccentric as near as I can learn - Ill write more about him from Cala - meantime Mr Ransom his associate & others have agreed to help collect. --- I think if followed up promptly we have a good thing here [[strikethrough]]?[[/strikethrough]] them
