Mem for Exploration of the Youkon written for Col Buckley at his office in New York Sept. 1864

A party of 15 men to ascend the Youkon in Steamer with 2 whale boats and 6 months provisions (rations 2 lb) 5500 lb - Half this amount would be sufficient of no explorations were to be made beyond the point reached by Steamer.

A party of 10 men to establish Depot at mouth of Youkon.

The steamer starting June 1st to ascend as far as possible probably reaching mouth of Porcupine by about June 20th and Fort Selkirk by July 15th.

At the highest point reached by the Steamer a second depot to be established and the survey continued in whale boats.

The Steamer might turn back with dispatches and reports, or then could be sent in Canoes or a third smaller whale boat - a whale boat could probably go from Fort Selkirk to Mouth of Youkon in 30 days.
