short of a long story I believe if I were a grievance hunter I could say that I've been most d-nably [[damnably]] belied, backbitten and abused here —

For this I have to thank [[strikethrough]] the j [[/strikethrough]] principally the jealousy of one man - William B. Hyde - He is a low lived cunning customer - very Pecksniffian and an arrant humbug. He expected to be Col Bulkleys second in command - Bulkley at one time intended to make him so I believe. - To this I had no objection - But recently I have learned that Hyde has systematically injured me with the Col on every occasion and has repeatedly interfered with my plans. - Probably he is the principal cause of any misunderstandings on Col Bulkleys part regarding myself. He is a diplomat - Hypocritical and altogether too cunning to be detected in any open rascality - the biggest kind of a toady and what takes Col Bulkleys
