Old Dr. Tyling the physician of Sitka is a [[strikethrough]] naturalist [[/strikethrough]] Botanist and though very lazy and slow he is a gentleman and a jolly old fellow — He and old Bischoff will get on splendidly. Dr. Tyling promises to give Bischoff every assistance in his power and says he will try to collect himself for the S.I. [[strikethrough]] I have  [[/strikethrough]] but he acknowledges that he seldom goes out of the house much. I think him the best - and perhaps the only man here who will do anything at Nat. Hist. — Russians are fearfully & wonderfully lazy!! They don't know anything about the common animals - and they have not explored the country anywhere 10 miles inland.

Kvihpak is one of the tributaries of the Yukon river in the Yukon-Kuskokwim delta. It had not been proven that it wasn't a separate river yet.
