^1133 [[underline]] Bernicla nigricans [[/underline]] 27773. [[male symbol]] Youkon May 19. Bill deep black; legs & feet deep leaden black.  Iris dark brown.  Called here [[underline]]Eskimo Goose [[/underline]].  They arrive here latest of all the birds, and after nearly all the other geese have passed.  Fly in large flocks, & very rapidly. These three specimens, two of which I shot, were the first seen this year, at the fort and the only ones shot, tho a dozen or two flocks of from 25 to 50 were seen in all.  But in no numbers to compare with the other four species.  This species is said to pass La Pierres House in immense numbers both spring & fall.  K

1142 [[underline]] Spizella monticola [[/underline]] Youkon.  May 27. The song of this bird brings to mind that of [[underline]] Sturnella magna [[/underline]], though lower & less loud. K

1143 [[underline]] Dendroia crestina [[/underline]] [[crossed out]] var [[underline]] rathbonia [[/underline]][[/crossed out]]  Youkon May 27.  All of the Dewdrocae seen at Youkon, have their tail feathers brown & edged with yellow. May [[?]] not the species be a good one.
