Bill black, base of lower mandible reddish. Feet & legs light olive, brown as in [[underlined]] socialis [[/underlined]] & darker than in [[underlined]] pallida [[/underlined]], but has the median stripe & black spots of [[underlined]] S. pallida [[/underlined]]! The forehead however is black as usual, and the rest of the colors appear to be the same as in [[underlined]] socialis [[/underlined]], and darker than in [[underlined]] pallida [[/underlined]]. It is too numerous to be a hybrid, and more careful examination than I have time to give may show it to be a distinct species Ft Res. June 16. K 716 [[underlined]] Zonotrichia gambellii [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]], nest, & 5 eggs. Ft Res. June 17 Nest on the ground under the grass at the foot of a small spruce, in an open place. I shot the [[female symbol]] at the nest. K
