Klamath Basin

Sept 22 -
Shot a coyote and got a few Tamias and other specimens in my traps.

Sept 23. Saw a Spermophilus beldingi and secured it the first one I have seen for a long time. They are commonly reported as going in in August.

Sept 24. Set many traps in new places. Got several Perognathus

Sept 25. Left Lost River in the afternoon to try to find a better locality to trap a night or two. Had intended to leave Wednesday but the horses had wandered off and were finally found at Klamath Falls. Camped for the night near Tule Lake -

Sept 26. Went down on the west side of Tule Lake a short distance and camped near the Lake shore. A ledge of rocks runs along here and the place promised well for trapping. Put out all my traps for Neotoma Perognathus Dipodomys.

Transcription Notes:
"Tule Lake" is probably Tulelake, California. There are many Tule Lakes in Oregon but none anywhere near Klamath Falls, whereas Tulelake is only the other side of the border.
