Nice party - everyone seemed to enjoy it. Long talk with General McClelland - He propounded theory of "Wishful Thinking". - i.e. - First problem of research is not to extend present situation but to think "what do I wish we could do". Then start programs to accomplish it. Illustrated by saying "We should not spend research trying to make our planes go 30 mph faster - Rather we should say - I wish I could be in London for lunch - then design ships to go fast enough to do that -
