Wed. 11th April

Came to NY. in AT-6. On top of ocast[[?]] all the way - When arrived over LG (Coney) estimated delay was 1:30 minutes so proceeded to edge of overcast and let down CFR to Westchester Co. Airport. Misunderstanding by NY. radio opr. He thought I wanted to come down through the ocast when I told him I was going beyond the edge of ocast. He had just been heckled by pilot in C-54 (2254) until he was so mad that he couldn't get my message straight. This in addition to difficulties of AT-6 radio, etc.- Need better voice communication if present system is to work. - Also need better system. --

Left ship in Westchester and proceeded by car.

Called on Mr. Goetz and Mr. Morrisey of CAA. They called conference of people concerned in my delay. All agreed, finally on poor communications. Seems like everyone in CAA has a chip on their shoulder.

[[underline]] Thursday [[/underline]] 12th April

Earnie Cutrell called at 5:00 am and we went out for early morning fog flying. Made numerous passes at NK-WX = approx. 200' & 1/4 mile. All passes could have been completed but none were in center - jack Bartow along. He is very obstinate re approach lights. Will not take advice of Cutrell nor believe what he sees.
