[[underlined]] Monday 23 April [[/underlined]]

Everything supposed to be set. Talked with [[?Janney]] & Lt. Col. (?) exec.

Was sent to ^[[air]] Inspector's office to sign in - this is routine for visitors - Talked with navigation inspector in Ops & Trng inspection section. He seemed on the ball. Promised to send one set of their inspection check lists. They appear very good in most subjects [[underlined]] except [[/underlined]] instrument and weather flying. Talked to the pilot Inspector. He seemed rather windy. Both thought impractical to check all pilots [[swtrikethrough]] [[?accacy]] [[/strikethrough]] in instrument flying though air inspector's office because of lack of personnel.

Met Dir. of Trng & Dir of Flying who were not very enthusiastic nor sympathetic with my problem. They thought their average students could negotiate 500-3 + instmt take-offs routinely or in emergency could make lower approaches OK. -

They did not have instrument check set up for me. Therefore Maj. Journey arranged through 316th Wing with Tucson for me to ride same there.

Departed for Tucson in afternoon but landed at Douglas.
