[[underline]] 29th Contind. [[/underline]] Met Col. Harman - cbf of Flight Section. He is very bitter about disapproval of his requests for SCS-51 - GCA, etc. Says internal troubles are great. Flew P-59 - Very interesting. Took off with 16,500 RMP - Cruised at 16,000. Stalls at 85 - High cruising about 355 indicated. Stalls very nicely - Does not fall off. - Plenty of stall warning. Approached at 130 over fence at 110 - too fast - Floated half way across field - Jets introduce many new problems - Must make straight in approaches - No holding - No circling field for landing, etc - Visibility problem great with relative speeds of 900 MPH and up, cannot depend on [[strikethrough]] y [[/strikethrough]] vision to prevent collision - Must go to continuous instrument methods. 30th & 31st May. Discussion with Fink and Ratliff re Sec I and Sec II of Report.
