March 6, 1942

Instructors for the subjects of the second phase of the training will be approximately as follows:

A. Army administrative - 10
B. Flight crew coordination - 20
C. Maintenance - 30
D. Clerical - 10
E. Mess - 3
F. Automotive - 4
G. Military special subjects (bombsights, etc.) - 10
H. Miscellaneous - 20 [[underlined]] 107 [[/underlined]]

Total - 200

The total number of instructors required to operate this school is approximately one instructor for each four students. This figure is not as high as it first appears because more than half of the instructors will be doing productive work in the maintenance of equipment and in the administration of the school.

VII. [[underlined]] Supervisory personnel [[/underlined]]

An estimate of the supervisory personnel required is as follows:

A. Director of the school - 1
B. Department heads - 4
C. Supervisors - 18
D. Chief instructors - [[underlined]] 40 [[/underlined]]

Total - 61

The estimates given in this survey must al be considered tentative. More accurate figures must await the accumulation of more accurate data on the location of the school, the rapidity with which it is necessary to train students, and the exact degrees of proficiency desired. I shall be glad to develop a more comprehensive estimate and detailed plans if you wish. Please advise me what your desires are in this respect.
