Feb. 21st. 44.

Departed Chabua approx. 09:30 for Misamari. Made low approach at MR and found Capt Mc (optns ) waiting for me to bawl me out for conduct unbecoming a C*46 pilot. Good sign. -- Mc told me about losing 724. (My old ship) Said ground station told them not to jump out because they had a fix and the ship was only 20 minutes out of Chabua. Last message said they could see a mountain ahead and did not know whether they could clear it or not.

Got two letters from home at MR.

Landed at Gaya in afternoon and met Capt. Blythe and Lt. Axford. Both are pilots from ferrying division. Blythe looks good. Axford seems willing but with rather light time. Also said to be three enlisted men here.

[[illegible]] Checked Capt. Blythe in contact and instrument flying including single engine work. Sent him out for more practice with Lt. Axford as copilot.

Finished check ^of Blythe with night landings- He seems all OK - Made some night landings myself. - Safe enough but need more practice-

Bromiley in from W/S. Hd. Wants to start immediately on C-46 training for his people - Called Hinton, Davidson, Cassidy + Pearce in from Calcutta -

Talked with Bromily + Coyne re activation of school - Seems best thing is to make it a separate unit but attach it to Station 20.
