on account of their young that were flying about in the cliff.  Some purple finches were scolding the owl & a bewicks wren gave me a good scolding. A big raven was chasing a turkey buzzard near the top of the canyon.  A few duck tracks were seen in the mud - probably teal.

[[underlined]] Mammals [/underlined]] seem to be unmolested & as we entered the canyon the first signs was of fresh beaver slides on the bank.  A beautiful spermophilus beechlyi with black head & shoulders ran over the rocks ahead of me - Coon, Lynx & Civet Cat tracks were common.
