[[underlined]] To Langtry [[/underlined]]

Returned from Painted Caves in time to catch the evening train for Langtry. Found Gordon Donald on the train on his way to Paisano.

Stopped at Langtry with W.H. Dodd.

[[underlined]] Aug. 2 [[/underlined]]. A still, scorching hot day.  Was tired, foot sore & half sick from the heat & yesterdays tramp so did not get out to do much.

[[underlined]] Aug. 3 [[/underlined]] - Sunday.  Another hot day but not unpleasant as a good breeze is blowing.  Wrote, packed specimens, & tonight take train for Valentine. 

[[underlined]] Aug. 4 [[/underlined]] - Reached Valentine before daylight and was fortunate in meeting one of our last years friends, Jo Sutter who helped me get located in a pleasant place in the edge of town. 

There has been lots of rain in the valley & grass is green & flowers numerous.  Even the dooryards & streets are full of wild flowers. 

Saw Otis Finley & arranged to go out to his ranch later.  Spent most of the day writing.  Cool & pleasant.
