[[underlined]] To Pine Canyon in Guadelupe Mts. [[/underlined]]

houses are common under the juniper trees & among rocks. & 2 that Hollister caught prove to be [[underlined]] albigula [[/underlined]]. Lepus arizonae & texianus are common. We strained our eyes all day for Antelope without seeing any. It is a beautiful country for them.

[[underlined]]Aug. 30[[/underlined]]- Traveled nearly due west all day & camped at 6 P.M. in a canyon at south end of Guadalupe Mts. A ranchman called it Pine Canyon. Came about 25 miles all up hill  Aneroid in morning read 4000, at night camp 5850. In middle of P.M. about 6 miles before camping we climbed a high bench to a level of 5000 feet & left every trace of Lower Sonoran, struck oaks, junipers, Agave aplonata, Arbutus, a big Nolina, & full set of Upper Sonoran things. 

Camped at edge of Yellow pine by fine spring.

Saw one antelope, 2 blacktail deer, & after camping located 3 mountain sheep on sides of canyon.
