[[underlined]] July 1. [[/underlined]], Caught only a few Peromyscus. Moved camp a little nearer to the river & set traps. 
Shot a weasel. 

[[underlined]] July 2. [[/underlined]] Caught Neotoma  3 kinds of Peromyscus, Mus musculus, & Eutamias. Made up skins & sent Surber & Weller up the mesa.
 
Went down to old San Miguel & took a few photos of valley, a juniper tree that looks like [[underlined]] flaccida [[/underlined]], & of the Mexican towns. 

San Jose. 

[[underlined]] July 3. [[/underlined]] Stopped to make up a couple of Perognathus & bluebirds, so did not get started till about 9 A.M. up the Pecos Valley. Drove through the queer old Mexican town of San Jose, then followed near the line of railroad most of the way over foot of mesa, passed Fulton, Pajarito, Rowe and camped about 4 miles of Pecos. Came about 20 miles up a slight grade most of the way & through beautiful nut pine & juniper forest. Pinus ponderosa covers the top of mesa south of us
