[[underline]] July [[strikethrough]] 14 [[/strikethrough]] 15 [[/underline]] Went up to the ranch of Mr. Tony Dodsweller, the forest ranger & game warden and had a satisfactory talk with him. Found his ranch on a ridge high above the river and about [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] 2 miles south of Willis.
He told us much about the game and trails & places to camp & work. Also gave us his permission to collect what ever we needed until I should hear from Mr. Otero, the state warden.
On our way back turned up Mora Creek to the mouth of Bear Creek & then up it a mile or so, exploring & hunting.

[[strikethrough]] July 15 Remained about camp hunting, trapping & making up specimens [[/strikethrough]]

[[underline]] July 16 [[/underline]] Went down to Pecos to get supplies. No check has arrived yet so I asked Mr. Harrison to trust me for grub & grain to the amount of $30.10, which he willingly did.
Got some good notes & cross lines.
