[[underlined]]Sept.24[[/underlined]]. On our way past the pueblo of Acoma we stopped & climbed up the stairway on the south wall up the 200 foot cliff (by the aneroid) to the pueblo perched on top. A less steep stone stairway & trail leads up the other side [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] where the burros & horses come up, and apparently these are the [[double underline]]only[[/double underline]] ways to this most inaccessable of the Pueblos.

The view is superb, over valley & mesas & mountains.

Thre or for rock tanks still held rain water, tho old & dirty.  The pueblo is extremely picturesque & interesting, tho only about 50 of the people are there during summer. The rest are out on farms or over at Acomita, but the return here for winter, where our friend Charles Dixon said - "It is so fresh and clean. No smells, no dirt, and such fresh air". The people are evidently fond of their old pueblo, but it is only a matter of time till they will come down & leave it.
