SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION PROCEEDINGS OF THE ALEXANDER WETMORE MEMORIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS January 22, 1979 [[underlined]]Attendance[[/underlined]] The meeting of the Board of Regents was held in the Regents Room of the Smithsonian Institution Building and was called to order at 9:30 a.m. on January 22, 1979, by Mr. Webb, Chairman of the Executive Committee, substituting for the Chancellor who was to be delayed because of a Court session. Present were: Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, Chancellor James E. Webb, Chairman, Executive Committee J. Paul Austin William A. M. Burden Murray Gell-Mann Caryl P. Haskins Judge A. Leon Higginbotham Senator Barry Goldwater Senator Robert B. Morgan Representative Silvio O. Conte Representative Norman Y. Mineta Representative Frank Thompson, Jr. S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary The Vice President, Walter F. Mondale, Senator Henry M. Jackson, Mrs. Anne L. Armstrong, and Messrs. John Nicholas Brown and Thomas J. Watson, Jr., were unable to attend as had been indicated in advance. Also present were Under Secretary Michael Collins, Assistant Secretaries John F. Jameson, Charles Blitzer, David Challinor, Paul Perrot, Julian Euell; Treasurer T. Ames Wheeler and Assistant Treasurer Christian C. Hohenlohe; General Counsel Peter G. Powers; Executive Assistant to the Secretary Dorothy Rosenberg; Coordinator of Public Information Lawrence E. Taylor; Director of Membership and Development James McK. Symington; Special Assistant to the Secretary James M. Hobbins;
