The increase of $5.9 million allowed by OMB for Salaries and Expenses will provide some $2.5 million for the increased costs of necessary pay and utilities and $1.0 million associated with the Panama Canal Treaties and the acquisition of the Museum of African Art. The balance of $2.4 million is related to collections management ($1.1 million); facilities protection and management services ($1.2 million); and $.1 million for the Folklife Program.
