Additionally, the House of Representatives Report on this resolution requests the Secretary of the Smithsonian and the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, respectively, to explore thoroughly the interest (in this proposed museum) among individuals, private foundations, corporations and industry, and citizens organizations as one means of objectively evaluating the feasibility and desirability of this proposal.

Smithsonian staff members have been engaged for the past several weeks in gathering information for this report, working closely with the General Services Administration, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Committee for a National Museum of the Building Arts. Also, helpful discussions have been held with Senate staff members, and similar discussions will be scheduled with appropriate staff of the House.

It is unlikely that a formal report signed by the Secretary will be required before mid-February.
