[[underlined]] Major Construction Projects [[/underlined]]

[[underlined]] Hirshhorn Garden Improvements for the Handicapped [[/underlined]]

An architectural/engineering contract to design various improvements for handicapped accessibility and safety for the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden is about 50% complete. This design contract also includes improvements to the walking surface, lighting, and access ramps to both levels of the Garden. The cost of construction is currently estimated to be between $400,000-$500,000. An amount of $200,000 is available for this project, and a request for an additional $210,000 is included in the FY 1980 budget.

[[underlined]] Arts and Industries Building Roof Repair and Building Restoration [[/underlined]]

Current roof repair contracts totaling $925,000 are in progress and 60% complete. This includes the roof of the rotunda, and the four major halls and courts. Following this contract, the A&I roof repair project will be 50% complete. Additional funds are included in the FY 1980 budget request to continue this project. The Arts and Industries Building also requires repairs to windows and sashes, replacement of gutters and down-spouts, pointing, removal of mechanical equipment, and other interior improvements. These items as well as complete of roof repairs will be addressed in the INstitution's FY 1981 through FY 1984 R&R budget request.

[[underlined]] Museum of History and Technology Terrace Repairs [[/underlined]]

Repair of the entire MHT terrace surface is necessary to correct original construction deficiencies which resulted in deterioration of the waterproofing membrane concealed under the masonry paving. An amount of $550,000 of appropriated funds has been obligated to date, and remaining
