The Office of Membership and Development now is soliciting foundation support for a colloquium which will reassess the immediate impact of the World War II cultural migration on the United States and explore its lasting ramifications. Tentatively titled "The Muses Flee Hitler," it is scheduled for October 11-13. Nathan Reingold and Cynthia McCabe, advisors to the Office of Smithsonian Symposia and Seminars from the Joseph Henry Papers and the Hirshhorn, have developed the program.
