[[underlined]]Appointment of Regents Committees[[/underlined]

The Chancellor referred to the following letter which he had sent to all of the Regents on June 20, 1979, informing them of the appointments to the Regents Personnel Committee and their Audit and Review Committee.

The Chairman of the Personnel Committee, Mr. Kenneth Rush, met with the Secretary and Mr. Webb to discuss various aspects of his Committee responsibilities. Subsequently he met with various Smithsonian staff members who briefed him on the current status of the first assignment, which is to review the financial reporting statements of the Secretary and eleven members of his senior staff which are to be submitted by September 28.

The Audit and Review Committee, under the chairmanship of Senator Jackson, has been organized and will be meeting in due course to review various aspects of Smithsonian operations and the audits of the Institution as they are prepared. Senator Jackson has written to all the members of the Committee spelling out the Committee's tasks in general, and discussions will soon be taking place regarding agenda items.
