Dear Professor Schapiro:

It is very many years since I had the pleasure of seeing you for the first time, at our former galleries on 51st. Street, when - I recall - you were so enthusiastic about SEURAT.

Just a few days ago I heard from John Rewald that you were writing a very elaborate study on this great artist, and I want you do know that if I can be of any service to you in this connection I will be only too pleased to do so.

You know that I have always been extremely interested in this great master and have had, and still own, a comparatively large group of drawings, and also photographs of those we have had.

Hoping, therefore, that you won't hesitate to call upon me when agreeable,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
