insufficient remedy for the evils complained of by the signers of the before-mentioned petition to remove Mr. Crawford in compliance with the request of the petitioners.

I am of the opinion, however, that the colored friends of Mr. C. in Franklinton should be earnestly counseled to refrain from extravagance and boisterousness in their evening meetings, and for the present at least, to hold those meetings less frequently, as a conciliatory measure toward the complainants and their sympathisers.
