Report of Wardens of the Poor of Duplin - Sampson and Robeson Cos

Headquarters 4th Sub District of N.C. Wilmington Oct. 11th 1867

Respectfully forwarded to Colonel J. F. Chur AAA General

The Wardens of the poor of the Counties of Columbus, Brunswick and New Hanover have paid no attention to my communications. I have written them letters to the Warden of the Poor of Brunswick and New Hanover Counties; as follows August 8th Sept 12th and Sept 26th but no notice has been paid to them, and I find on inquiry that no steps have been taken by the authorities to provide for the poor, and I do not believe that the authorities of Brunswick and New Hanover Counties will do anything unless compelled,

Much destitution exists in these two counties, and unless some measures are devised for the relief of the poor many will perish during the coming winter,
