Sir Do if you please allow me most respectfully to represent to you that I engaged to work a farm in Copartner Ship with Mr Phil B. Hawkins of Franklin County, the fourth was to be taken out for the rent of land afterwards the remaining crop was to be equally divided between Mr H & my Self twenty Bales of Cotton was packed & sent off by Mr H for which he does not settle nor give me any Satisfaction not so much as to let me know what it was sold for, In the division of the corn for the past year (Mr H loaned us some corn) and required us to give him a Bb; and one half for each Bbl he had loaned us, and he now says he will charge us two for one that we have Borrowed from him the previous year, We did not So understand it when we borrowed the corn have not been able to get a settlement with him the past or present year and until very recently did not know his designs on us We do in all honesty think it rong and humbly beg of you to order a reference of the matter before Lt. T.H Hay,
