personal endurance & physical strength, who enlisted the Sympathies of all honest men at Charlotte for his adherence to the cause of the Union & devotion to his government, even after he had received a volly of musketry, which did not destroy life.

I should have investigated and reported upon this case while Stationed at Charlotte, but for the disturbed state of my duties after the case was reported to me, arising out of interference of the Post Commander. When I was relieved I reported the case to Major Norton who cleared me, and would respectfully refer for further information to Mr. George and  Mr. Redding - well known northern citizens of Charlotte

Trusting that Genl Hoke may be called to an account of his conduct in this matter, and that the friends of Captain Henry may be apprised of his whereabouts.
