Transcription Notes:
Original Transcriber: Last two words were difficult to read, but i am pretty sure it is a name. B (Second Transcriber): I think it says "Freedpeople." Notice the "p" followed by the space then "eople." The first letter looks like "F", followed by an "r," then it looks like two vowels - similar to "a" or "e" then a "d." I submit "Freedpeople" as a reasonable interpretation. I am skeptical about "Jany 14th" though - is that typical, to write Jany? Could it be July? Additionally Braknhen is Brenham - notice how the "e" looks similar to the "e" in "Freedpeople" Also, I am not sure it says "Good, Commissioner" - it seems like the second letter is an e and the last two letters are "n" and "l" - not that "Genl," makes sense, maybe Gentleman? Also, this makes sense of the irregular Jany. version of January.
