[[underline]] To Lovelock, Nev. [[/underline]]

[[underline]] Nov. 6 [[/underline]] Left San Francisco at 6:20 PM. for Lovelock, Nevada where a "Plague of Voles" is reported.

[[underline]] Nov. 7 [[/underline]]. Daylight at Truckee, then Yellow pines and Transition zone to Reno, Upper Sonoran began good and strong blow the meadows at Sparks, but the big meadows filling the bottom of the valley from Reno to Sparks and 2 miles beyond is probably Transition, simply because a damp, cold meadow.
The train missed Wadsworth and went down the south side of the valley & then over the mesa to Hazen and around by the Carson Sink, over desert mesas subject to the ditch but not yet reclaimed. Many shanties and a few fences are up but the ground is still bare and dry. The whole valley looks even more brown and bare than I remembered seeing it before. The lake and salt marsh are about as I remember them.

Reached Lovelock about noon.
